Welcome to our website. The first thing you may want to know is, "Why do I need a specialized school for my gifted preschool child?" The following my help with that answer.
From the U.S. Department of Education: “Child development research has established that the rate of human learning and development is most rapid in the preschool years. Timing of intervention becomes particularly important when a child runs the risk of missing an opportunity to learn during a state of maximum readiness. If the most teachable moments or stages of greatest readiness are not taken advantage of, a child may have difficulty learning a particular skill at a later time.” Karnes and Lee (1978) have noted that: "Only through early identification and appropriate programming can children develop their potential."
Asynchronous Development makes this period even more important for the gifted preschool child, as their cognitive abilities are developing at a faster rate than their social/emotional abilities.
We are a specialized preschool in a home school environment. We provide a curriculum that is appropriate for the gifted child’s mental age and a safe nurturing environment that is appropriate for their chronological age. Small group size allows for an individualized curriculum based on your child's interests and learning style.
The Pre-K Gifted Program Standards we developed with the help of: the Connecticut Association for the Gifted (CAG), the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC), and the National Research Center on the Gifted and Talented (NRC/GT) were included in the preschool strand at the annual 2010 Confratute at UConn and have been published by the U.S. Department of Education.
Nondiscrimination Policy: We admit students of any race, color, national origin, and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities available to students at the school. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, and ethnic origin in administration of our educational policies, admission
policies, scholarships, and other school-administered programs.
CT Gifted Pre-K Inc. is a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) corporation. All Rights Reserved.
